Musicians at Harrison Trimble High School are spending some extra time rehearsing
in preparation for the first coffee house of the year.
Coffee houses are one of many traditions at Trimble, allowing Trojans to show off their talents by performing acoustic music, spoken word poetry, and many other acts. Students are able to sit back and relax while enjoying a snack and a night full of music, all to help raise money for the schools' music department.
"The feeling you get when you start playing is like no other, especially when it's a song people know," says guitarist Josh McInnis, a grade 12 student who plans on performing next week. "It brings people together, and for the three or so minutes you're playing a song, you feel like you're on top of the world." Josh has been performing in school coffee houses for the last 2 years. He sees them as an amazing opportunity to perform.
"There's no limit to what kind of music you can play. It's a calm, non-judgemental, atmosphere." He adds.
The coffee house will take place at 7 pm on Monday, November 18th, in the second-floor lobby. Entrance costs $3, and there will also be food and drink available for purchase. All funds raised go directly towards supporting the music department.
